8/29/11 Monday

Today I wrote about the Maybury VS Madison trial that we are reviewing in my communication law class. It was a 38 page case that I have been reading over and analyzing in my daily writing. We will be using this case and others as a referral throughout the course.

Thoughts and motivation

When reading about motivation and the need for clam and confidence I can’t disagree. I feel that I am definitely one who relies on waiting and relying on deadlines to be my source of motivation. It makes me curious as to what other alternatives I can turn to, to make my writing ‘mindful.’ I always had a hard time sharing my writing because I was afraid for someone to tell me what I wrote was wrong, or that I spelled something wrong, or that it was just a stupid topic. After reading about the need to be in the ideal state of motivation, I think to myself, “Ok I agree, if I can do that, writing could be my new love, but how do I get there? How do I get myself out of the mindset of it becoming a task or just another homework assignment?”

ba ba americano

Fourth of July is just around the corner, time to let lose and wear your red, white and blue! Yes, I know the song means "we don't speak american," but how much you want to bet its played all night? I will be sporting the cut off jeans and white tee with a little twist to it! Of course I bought some red feather earrings to sport and designed a cute cut off tee fringed at the bottom! Not finding a cute red dress this year, if only I could have found some of these interesting styles!

If only it were american to be aloud to make a shirt out of the flag.... TRUST ME I KNOW ITS NOT! But still it would have made for a great dress!

Happy Holidays!

feather me fabulous

If you know me, you know that I love feathers. In my hair, earrings, on my clothes, and with this new discovery.. my nails! This is so cool!

Here's what you need:

Bag of Feathers
A Base Coat
A Base Color
Thick Clear Top Coat
Tweezers

To recreate this look, first prep your nails with a base coat, followed by a base color. Next, top one nail with a top coat and press a feather into the nail using tweezers quickly before it dries. With a small pair of scissors, cut the feather around the edges that extend past the nail. Apply one more top coat to secure the feather onto the nail. Repeat for the remaining nails.

my inspiration... feathers of course!

great food for bikini season

Walnuts
Though high in calories, walnuts contain protein, healthy fats and omega-3 fatty acids to keep you feeling full. Try a small handful (10-12) as a midafternoon snack, or throw a few into your salad at lunch.

Try this:
Spinach salad with strawberries, grilled chicken, walnuts and poppyseed dressing... This is my all time favorite salad, delicioso!

Green Tea
Speeds up your metabolism, helping your body to burn fat more quickly.

Try this:
Mix your tea with a fat free milk and splenda, promise it's not your average cup of tea :)

High Fiber Foods
Foods that are high in fiber take longer to digest, keeping you feeling full longer.

Try this:
Oatmeal or whole grain foods are always good, but try artichoke hearts.   My best friend taught me this recipe, drain the can, peel them in half, put the in a pan with some oil and garlic, and mix some lemon juice and garlic salt in there. Let it cook covered for about 10 mins and then sprinkle some mozzarella on the top, let it melt, and its ready togo!

Cucumbers
Fruits or vegetables with a high water content—including lettuce, cantaloupe and watermelon—fill you up with fewer calories. Bonus: The vitamins and antioxidants will boost your immune system.

Try This:
You guys are going to think this girl is a chef after you try my second favorite recipe of hers, cucumber salad. Cut up cucumbers bite size, mix with a few splashes rice vinegar and sprinkle garlic salt on top! Add a little Newman's Own Light Balsamic Vinaigrette for some extra flavor!

love braids, very hippie-chic. Makes me so excited for my hair to get long again. Then I'll need to find some tips on how to actually do it! Happy weekend!

blonde is better

Blonde really is alwasy better so next time you look through your kitchen try using one of these hair lightening techniques... it will be way cheaper than the salon and probably take the same amount of time or less!

Lemon
mis 1/4 cup of frersh squeezed lemon juice and 3/4 cup of water in to a spray bottle. Spray all over hair and leave in for two hours. Spend at least 30 mins out in the sun. Be careful not to leave any lemon juice on your skin while in the sun. It could cause blistering.

Olive Oil
Comb a generous amount of olive oil through you hair. Spend about an hour in the sun and then wash it all out. Not only with this lighten your hair but its one of the best conditioners out there!

Chamomile Tea
Boil a pot of chamomile tea and allow it to cool completely. Wash and condition your hair normally, then rinse your hair with the tea. Go sit in the sun for 30-60 mins with your tea-drenched hair. Yes, this will work for brunettes too, to give you those natural golden highlights.

Honey
Apply straight to your wet hair and leave on for two hours. Spend an hour in the sun. You will need tow ash your hair twice to get all of the honey out. It return it will give your hair extra bounce and natural highlights.

Beer
LIGHT COLORED BEER! Get a six-pack. Empty four of the bottles into a bucket. Soak your hair in the beer and then head outside. Rise out your hair with cold water an hour later. While this may seem like a waste of refreshments, look at it as a cheap trip to the salon with a tan and two beers included.

Happy Highlighting.

In the words of Marilyn Monroe...

It all started my freshmen year of college when she was just a cool poster that I picked out for $5 at target, which then lead to me adding her to my facebook inspiration page and now the main theme of my bedroom. While looking for quotes today these were the few that stuck out the most to me

"I'm selfish, impatient and a little insecure. I make mistakes, I am out of control and at times hard to handle. But if you can't handle me at my worst, then you sure as hell don't deserve me at my best."

"Imperfection is beauty, madness is genius and it's better to be absolutely ridiculous than absolutely boring."

"If you can make a girl laugh, you can make her do anything."

"We should all start to live before we get too old. Fear is stupid. So are regrets."

"I don't mind living in a man's world, as long as I can be a woman in it."

"its better to be hated for what you are than to be loved for what your not"

"The body is meant to be seen, not all covered up."
